The Network

The development of an Ecuadorian Life Cycle Assessment network pursues the enhancement of research. This research is to be analyzed objectively with the most relevant information regarding sustainability projects and its performance, which will reinforce the capabilities of scientists and professionals encouraging the support actions and linkages among all the performers.

The Workshop

The firs activity to promote and consolidate the establishment of the Ecuadorian network is the development of a workshop. The involvement of distinguished international professionals in the workshop will contribute to analyze the methodological issues relevant to the region, as well as, sharing know-hows, provide feedback, technical support, and orientation on how LCA can be focused on different projects and initiatives.

The workshop will be held on the premises of the “Fabrica de Imbabura” (Ibarra, Ecuador) from March 31st to April 2nd 2014. The event is organized by of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies and the National Institute for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies with the support of the Life Cycle Initiative (LCI) promoted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), and the Iberoamerican Lifecycle Network (RICV).

The seminar

As part of the workshop the First International Seminar on Life Cycle Analysis will be held in Ecuador: “Life cycle approach to sustainability assessment: identifying priority policies and methodological application contexts”. A total of eight ministries will take part of the event, as well as, members from the academia, research institutions, cooperation organisms, and members from the private sector.
